Questo è un Songbook in progress: può cambiare in continuazione ed è una specie di diario della mia idea di musica globale...
Questo songbook nasce dalla convinzione che le musiche del mondo sono tra loro connesse in misura consistente, e nel mio curiosare tra i sistemi musicali del mondo e della storia sento di
appartenere ad un umanità troppe volte divisa su modi e usanze che appartengono invece a tutti, perché la musica è dono della natura e patrimonio dell'umanità.
Non so parlare le lingue del mondo, ma è mia ambizione coglierne il senso, il suono, la personalità del sentimento soggettivo perché mi sento curioso e attratto da altri punti di vista.
Senza consapevolezza quindi approccio a stili, danze, modi di dire che gli idiomi e lingue mi suggeriscono, nulla viene da me, ma tutto passa attraverso le mie dita, le mie orecchie, la mia
mente, il mio sentire. Anche se a molti può sembrare un esercizio stilistico non mi interessa lo stile in sé, ma la sua risonanza nell'esistente. Penso che se ognuno si sforzasse di conoscere
modi diversi di parlare e di agire, forse avremo un'umanità migliore.
Anche se il mio orientamento di improvvisatore tende ad incontrare artisti che provengono dal mondo del jazz, in questo caso il jazz è solo un pretesto per ampliare e deformare delle
canzoni che nascono col preciso intento di essere un veicolo per improvvisare.
Una delle voci che più apprezzo è quella di Isabella Celentano un'artista sensibile, che conosce il “gioco” delle vocalità, che ha voluto condividere con me questo viaggio tra geografie e
topiche immaginarie (e non) è l'interprete e in alcuni casi il traduttore del mio scrivere. Pierpaolo Chiaraluce è un giovane artista curioso e inventivo con cui collaboro da tempo in varie
situazioni dal duo alle grandi formazioni, scambiandoci idee, emozioni e musica originale. Anche lui come me, scrive musica ed è vicino alla vocalità con la collaborazione con associazioni
corali. Per me sono i compagni di viaggio ideali.

This songbook stems from the belief that the music of the world are inter-related in large measure,
and in my browse through the music systems of the world and of history
I feel I belong to a humanity too often divided on the ways and customs that belong instead to all, because
music is a gift of nature and heritage.
I do not know how to speak the languages of the world, but it is my
ambition to grasp the meaning, the sound, the personality of
the subjective feeling because I feel curious and attracted to
other points of view. Without awareness then approach
to styles, dances, idioms idioms and languages that I suggest, nothing comes to
me, but everything goes through my fingers, my ears, my mind, my
feel. Although many may seem like an exercise in style
I'm not interested in the style itself, but its resonance in the existing. I think if everyone strove to learn different ways of speaking and acting, maybe we better humanity.
Although my orientation as an improviser tends to encounter artists
who come from the world of jazz, in this case, jazz is just an excuse
to expand and deform the songs that come with the specific
intent of being a vehicle for improvisation.
One of the items that I appreciate most is that of a sensitive artist
Isabella Celentano, who knows the "game" of vocals, who wanted to share this journey with me among geographies and topical imaginary (or not) is
the interpreter and in some cases the translator of my writing. Pierpaolo
Chiaraluce is a curious and inventive
young artist I work with for a long time in various situations from
duo to big bands, exchanging ideas, emotions, and original music. He, too, like me, writes music and
is close to the vocals with the collaboration with choral
societies. For me they are the perfect traveling companions.
